My take on recent Padmavati incident

A representative of parliament had written this

https://www.quora.com/What-policy-changes-can-be-adopted-as-preventive-measures-to-address-problem-like-assault-on-the-movie-set-of-rani-padmavati-issue-in-the-future

My response:-

Well, I would have easily ignored the answer considering that it has come from a Politician- with an agenda to defend the government. But, in the first para itself, you dragged me in your hoop-la, by saying "the sentiments that every Rajput feels, including me." You shouldn't have done that. I am sorry to say, but I don't feel like that. I myself am Rajput, (Sengar Gotra, Thakur clans of Ballia) from Uttar Pradesh. Our cultural beliefs aren't built upon sand piles of a dessert that it will get destroyed by a blow of the winds. Our culture is based on the banks of the river Ganges, which is soiled everyday by hundreds and thousands, and still it feeds a population of the size of Europe. My belief in my culture is that strong that it can't be deterred or influenced by one movie or one book or hundred such movies. My Rajputana culture is inspired by a holy river, against all dirts and pollutants, it still knows how to find its way, how to evolve and how to reach salvation. As they say, "Kuchh to baat he ki hasti mitati nahi humari". Cutting a long story short, you don't represent every Rajput. You just represent yourself.
I would be glad to know the name of the academic society if there are any, which accepts this as research. By not letting one exercise creative freedom, you haven't restricted him from having an opinion about Rajput's, (which I believe tarnished Rajput's image), you have just lost your right to have an opinion about every other culture in the world. Because you are sensitive to your culture, then why shouldn't other be sensitive to your opinion on their culture. Other who can be Chinese, Japanese and even Pakistani. Yes, Pakistani too. Now, you don't hold any right to have an opinion on them. If everyone followed your advice - I hope you can foretell where we are heading - a frog in the well.

And is this how you oppose, by slapping a harmless man … just move any further west in Gulf region, they have more heinous thoughts about Indian Culture. Why don’t they slap them? And if govt had so much problem then why it permitted shooting.
