My take on recent Padmavati incident

A representative of parliament had written this

https://www.quora.com/What-policy-changes-can-be-adopted-as-preventive-measures-to-address-problem-like-assault-on-the-movie-set-of-rani-padmavati-issue-in-the-future

My response:-

Well, I would have easily ignored the answer considering that it has come from a Politician- with an agenda to defend the government. But, in the first para itself, you dragged me in your hoop-la, by saying "the sentiments that every Rajput feels, including me." You shouldn't have done that. I am sorry to say, but I don't feel like that. I myself am Rajput, (Sengar Gotra, Thakur clans of Ballia) from Uttar Pradesh. Our cultural beliefs aren't built upon sand piles of a dessert that it will get destroyed by a blow of the winds. Our culture is based on the banks of the river Ganges, which is soiled everyday by hundreds and thousands, and still it feeds a population of the size of Europe. My belief in my culture is that strong that it can't be deterred or influenced by one movie or one book or hundred such movies. My Rajputana culture is inspired by a holy river, against all dirts and pollutants, it still knows how to find its way, how to evolve and how to reach salvation. As they say, "Kuchh to baat he ki hasti mitati nahi humari". Cutting a long story short, you don't represent every Rajput. You just represent yourself.
I would be glad to know the name of the academic society if there are any, which accepts this as research. By not letting one exercise creative freedom, you haven't restricted him from having an opinion about Rajput's, (which I believe tarnished Rajput's image), you have just lost your right to have an opinion about every other culture in the world. Because you are sensitive to your culture, then why shouldn't other be sensitive to your opinion on their culture. Other who can be Chinese, Japanese and even Pakistani. Yes, Pakistani too. Now, you don't hold any right to have an opinion on them. If everyone followed your advice - I hope you can foretell where we are heading - a frog in the well.

And is this how you oppose, by slapping a harmless man … just move any further west in Gulf region, they have more heinous thoughts about Indian Culture. Why don’t they slap them? And if govt had so much problem then why it permitted shooting.

Apple's assembly unit in Bangalore

As an Indian, with a degree in computers, with a job in softwares, who very well know that all the news are planted to deviate from real question; i would hope that Trump does prevent this deal. An initiative where countries take care of their own trash, not dump it here.
Its not even a manufacturing plant, they are just setting up an assembly unit of refurbished product. Second hand stuff to be sold here as brand new. And for that, Apple have asked for a tax holiday for a decade. As if they are doing a favour
Cellphone manufacturing isn't a new thing in India. Half of the Samsung products are actually manufactured here and its happening for more than a decade.
Apple here has literally taken Indian government on a ride. And ruling party here has offered India, to the worlds richest firm, on a platter.

Who will win UP election and Impact of UP election in national narrative.

Being Rational here, not being swayed with my sentiments, and my temptation to press NOTA, I will say sp+congress. And with my observations, It also works in favour of national growth.
Let me break my answers here in two parts.
  • Why SP+Congress will win.
    1. Caste politics: UP election is heavily dominated by caste politics. And this factor works against BJP, whose core vote bank is upper caste Hindus. UP has more than 50% population of SC ST and OBC. These communities aren't going to vote BJP, because of recent attacks on Dalits. Muslims by default aren't going to vote BJP. And this time SP has been very careful in ticket distribution. So the votes don't get distributed.
    2. Economy: UP economy purely runs on cash. Forget about digital India, half of the state doesn't even get 12 hours of electricity. And they suffered terribly in demonetization.
    3. No CM face for BJP.
    4. UP BJP is flaring with communal elements, like the rise of Yogi AdityaNath.
    5. Governance of neighboring state Haryana & MP. Both are run by BJP which is marred with corruption, unemployment, and communal clashes. Haryana for the first time in last two decade saw a riot. Vyapam scam in MP is known to all.

  • In my above answer, i didn't mention the pros of SP+congress because there isn't any. This UP election is choosing the lesser of the two devils. And as I said, it will work in favor of India. Let me explain this part.
    1. The balance of power. It will be a breather for opposition. They will get some credibility in Parliament, who are at present laughing stock.
    2. Check the arrogance of BJP. There is too much of arrogance, a sense of invincibility in the ruling party, that they are beyond Parliament and can get away with anything, and can't be questioned or criticized.
    3. Opportunity for BJP to get their acts right. Instead of deviating to redundant topics like beef and jingoism, work on the development plan, and most importantly engage in Parliament debate, not on unidirectional man-ki-baat i.e. provide a detailed plan for their growth model not jumlas & one liner.
    4. Chisel the relationship between voter and the leader. At present, it is like a ruler and their bhakti. Both need to shed their fascination and come back to the ground, accept that the relationship is mutual, rulers can't take voters for granted, as citizens used to with Congress. And nobody is interested in knowing the history of Congress from BJP leaders, everybody knows that, and that's why Congress is 49 seat party.
